Animals:Parental lines of chickens used in this study were the IAH lines 6_1 and 15I originally derived from stock provided by the USDA Avian Disease and Oncology Laboratory.
     Breeds associated:
    n/a
Design:The chicks were inoculated at 2 wk of age. Five days after infection, chicks were euthanized and their spleens removed, weighed, and homogenized. The spleen tissue was plated and the number of bacterial colonies was counted.
Analysis:Genetic markers or trait loci were assigned to linkage groups on the basis of LOD scored greater than 3 in a two-point analysis. Associations between loci and phenotypic traits in the mapped panel were carried out as single and multipoint regression analy
