QTL Experiment in Brief |
Animals: | A resource population of 272 F2 White Leghorn chickens was generated by intermating the inbred lines 6_3 (MD resistant) and 7_2 (MD susceptible). |
Breeds associated:
n/a
|
Design: | All animals were necropsied to score for MD tumors in various nerves (vagus, sciatic, brachial) and visceral tissues. Any animal with a tumor was scored as having MD or diseased. |
Analysis: | Microsatellite markers were chosen from the East Lansing, Compton, and Wageningen genetic maps. All 272 F2 birds were genotyped using the flanking markers within the MD QTL regions that were reported or for any marker that exhibited suggestive association |
Software: | Genescan 2.1 Software |
Notes: | MD = Marek's disease
SG = selective genotyping |
