QTL Experiment in Brief |
Animals: | Two stallions with a heritable white spotting pattern with unknown genetic cause, one Arabian and one Mangalarga, were used. Phenotype scoring was performed on an additional 147 horses of unspecified breeds. |
Breeds associated:
n/a
|
Design: | The coding regions of the KIT and MITF genes were subjected to targeted exon sequencing to identify variants that could be associated with the white spotting phenotype. A candidate KIT mutation and SNPs in MC1R and ASIP were analyzed for association with degree of white spotting. |
Analysis: | A multiple linear regression model was used. |
Software: | Haploview v4.1, SAS JMP Pro v15 |
