    Animals:Animals were Hokkaido Native Horses, a native Japanese breed.
     Breeds associated:
    Design:Animals were genotyped using the Illumina Equine 70K BeadChip and analyzed for ability to display alternative gaits. A total of 38,747 and 37,178 SNPs were used for GWAS-1 and GWAS-2, respectively.
    Analysis:Two GWAS were performed--first, for all genotyped animals, then for 76 animals with AA genotype for DMRT:Ser301Ter.
