    Animals:The granddaughter design consisted of 14 paternal half-sib families with an average number of 128 and a range of 33 to 313 sons per sire, with sire denoting the male parent common to each half-sibship.
     Breeds associated:

    Design:Seven traits (milk yield, fat yield, protein yield, fat percentage, protein percentage, length of productive life, and somatic cell score) were considered in the analysis.
    Analysis:Marker data were available on 246 microsatellite markers. Of these, 222 were assigned to the 29 autosomal chromosomes. The statistical methods employed for QTL mapping were least-squares analysis and variance components analysis.
