QTL Experiment in Brief |
Animals: | Eight of the largest half-sib families, from the Dairy Bull DNA Respository, consisting of 1,068 bulls were selected for QTL detection using the granddaughter design. |
Breeds associated:

|
Design: | Each son's daughter yield deviations for seven traits were extracted from the Novmber 1997 U.S. national Holstein evaluaiton. The seven traits are: milk yield, fat yield, protein yield, fat %, protein %, somatic cell score, and productive herd life. |
Analysis: | A linkage map based on the DBDR families was constructed using Cri-Map. Analysis of variance for each marker and trait combination was performed using the Proc GLM function of SAS. |
Software: | SAS and Cri-Map |
