    Animals:Animals were from two populations of Japanese Black cattle.
     Breeds associated:
    Design:Animals were genotyped for three SNPs in the leptin gene and analyzed for carcass traits and fatty acid composition.
    Analysis:Effects of the polymorphisms on each trait were tested using ANOVA. Factors found to be significant were further tested using Tukey's honestly significant difference (HSD) test.
