Title:Genome wide association study for milk yield traits in Portuguese dairy cattle
Journal:Animal Genetics, 2018, DOI: (n/a)
Abstract:

The objective of this study was to identify QTLs affecting milk production traits (milk, fat and protein yields) in Portuguese Holstein cattle using genome wide association approach and SNP markers. Nine significant SNPs were associated with milk yield, twelve significant SNPs were associated with milk-fat yield and five SNPs were associated significantly with protein yield. The present study confirm that DGAT1 gene is a standard gene for fat yield and the region around DGAT1 gene is a harbor for QTLs affecting milk production traits. Furthermore, some genes identified in current study such as CACNB2, DGAT1 and MAPK9 may play an essential role in antagonistic genetic correlation between milk production and reproduction traits.
